8 Environmental Storyteller
“You may tell a tale that takes up residence in someone's soul, becomes their blood and self and purpose."

Erin Morgenstern, multimedia artist and author

Everyday people are bombarded with information on the dire state of the planet; global warming, endangered species, an ocean of plastic and the destruction of rain forests. Often this information overload, causes people to despair and shut down. Adults & children may feel the problem is too immense, there is no hope and nothing one person can do, and so they disconnect & perhaps do nothing.

But share a story heart to heart, mind to mind, eye to eye with people... then you connect, you engage their feelings and through the story you can reconnect them to their local environment. Sharing stories evoke empathy, engages imaginations, helps people re-imagine their environment and gives them hope...

In this workshop we will explore different types of stories and storytelling skills to assist environmentalists to share their stories eye to eye, mind to mind and heart to heart. And in the sharing of these stories, connect others heart to heart with Gaia and inspire the sense of stewardship.

In this workshop, participants will:
Learn basic storytelling skills

Learn tips and techniques to let go of the written text
Learn how to rebuild a story with intention
Explore the wisdom of folk tales

Enhance their innate storytelling abilities
Discover their treasury of personal environmental stories

This workshop may be presented as a full day workshop or as a series of workshops

9 Drawing on Images that Speak ~ Healing with Story. (suitable for any community group)

We believe there is treasure to be found in each and every tale. The right story seems to find its way to us, and if we take the time to find the hidden lock and turn the golden key, we will find the secret message for our soul.

Stories bypass our conscious mind, they seep into the dark recesses of our subconscious. There, the images and metaphors percolate, our imaginations make sense of them, find meaning and provide insights for our lives

Delve with us into the world of imagination... the realm of the soul.

In this story workshop we will focus on story images that capture our attention. We will tease them out, play with them, put them back together and discover how they speak to us both as individuals and as a group. Based on the work of Inger Lise Oelrich from the Alba Peace Project and the Nordic Healing Story Training, this workshop provides participants with a way to delve deeper into stories to find meaning & healing for themselves and the group. We also extend Inger Lise’s invitation for participants to take this workshop into their communities to facilitate global healing.

Reviews:

"I was surprised by how much a simple fairy tale spoke to my situation in life. I found hope where I thought there was none to be found. Thank you"

"Profound, amazed at the insights I received"
